BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- ServisFirst Bancshares, Inc., generated $34 million in net income in 2012, up 48 percent from its 2011 total and an all-time record amount for the company, according to its earnings statement published today.

Total interest income for the Birmingham-based banking company grew to $109 million in 2012, up from $91.4 million in 2011, an increase of nearly 20 percent. The bank also reported loan growth of 29 percent for the year, and a net interest margin (fully taxable-equivalent) of 3.8 percent, essentially unchanged from last year.

The bank's ratio of nonperforming assets to total assets fell below 1 percent in 2012, from 1.06 percent last year to 0.69 percent this year. 

ServisFirst Bank manages 11 offices, including branches in Jefferson, Houston, Shelby, Madison and Montgomery counties in Alabama, and two branches in Florida. 

As of Sept. 30, the bank had 223 full-time employees, and nearly $2.8 billion in assets.
