Rammed Earth
Spectacular contemporary home designed by renowned architect, Brent Kendle and built by Construction Zone. A true work of modern art set in the peaceful Sonoran Desert, overlooking the 4th hole of the Renegade golf course in the incomparable community of Desert Mountain. This home uses desert soil to cover its walls, not only for their ecological benefits but also as an efficient insulation system. Its orientation, angle of the roof and the eaves avoids sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day. The roof collects rainwater for reuse in the outdoor facilities. Interior and exterior living space flow together, imperceptibly separated by transparent walls of glass.A simple palette of stone, wood, metal and daylight compose a clean setting-allowing the owners' vibrant personalities to
appear center stage as they entertain friends and family. The focal 3 foot rammed earth wall is a piece of art in itself, with natural striations recalling ancient canyon walls, Native American ruins and board-formed concrete foundations from pioneer mining structures.
