A Must Read!
Ever thought of moving to Mexico?
May 29 – 30 2012
ARIZONA
Left the house promptly at 7:30. Contractore and cleaning ladies were on time. The car is packed so full that we can’t open the back door unil we get to Ajijic! Several items had to be discarded, including my golf clubs, sheets and towels, but we did get in our TV and our computers and our two dogs! The pod on top also can’t be opened til we get to our new home.
BORDER CROSSING AND TO SAN CARLOS
Up at 5:30 I am not a lot of help to Gene as I fell yesterday, tripping over Alex, in the eeparking lot, and hurt my knee. Inwasn’t exactly a speed demon before, but I am really hobbling now. Hopefully, as each day goes by it will get better!
So Gene took the dogs for their walk both before and after eating, and we are going to iHop for breakfast, pick up the dogs and head for the border
Got to immigration at 9:00 AM – no line! Authorities very nice and helpful. Went to tourist card office first, then to copy service to copy tourist card, then to bank to pay for tourist card ($20 each) and vehicle importation permit ($471). We were back on the road at 10:00!
Highway is mostly 4 lane and good so far. Only drawback is that there is no shoulder, so no place to safely pull over. Have discovered that for some reason we have no cell phone service even tho we called Verizon from Nogales to activate service in Mexico! We wil try to straighten it out when we get to San Carlos.
The dogs have been terrific! Quiet in the car and they do their chores when Gene takes them for a walk. Most of the time we do not even know they are in the car!
Passing thru Hermosillo now where we see Dairy Queen, McDonald’s, and lots of traffic. Got lost doing a detour (no directional signs) but finally thru the help og a Mexican and our Garmin, we found the highway again ( not without an argument or two).
That is all for the first two days!
